Zambia Students Blessed With God's Word

On the 5th of March I, Amanda, a team member of Bible League International Australia, along with 25 others, left for three weeks on a mission trip to Zambia, Africa. This three week adventure was planned a year ago through my church, Minchinbury Anglican, with the purpose of bringing the good news of Jesus to the students at a small school in the ‘Ngombe Compound’ in Lusaka.

After a year of preparation we arrived at the school, unsure what to expect but we were greeted so warmly by 700 students singing songs of thanks.

On the 1st of September 2003 the school was opened with only 2 children, by December this number had grown to 40. It went on to be registered in 2004. It has continued to grow at a great rate and today the school has just over 700 children, 33% being orphans.

The two week program that our team had prepared consisted of Bible talks, memory verses, games, craft, Bible studies and songs of praise to our great God. At the end of the time with the students, with the help of Bible League International, each student was presented with a brand new New Testament and the teachers received a full Bible.

During our stay we had many of the teachers and students tell us how much they appreciated these Bibles. One of the primary school teachers told us that she was not able to afford a Bible and was so excited to now have one to keep.

Teaching these students the good news of Jesus Christ was fantastic. The tears they shed when saying goodbye was a sign that our visit was not a waste of time.

But seeing the look on their faces at the end of the week when we reached into our box and pulled out a Bible for each of them is something that I will never forget. Even though our stay with these beautiful students was a short one, we have left them something that is eternal and that is the message of Christ Jesus. I praise God for this opportunity and praise God for Bible League International!

Bible League International operates through partnerships within Zambia.
