Father and Daughter Receive a Bible

Nada Andreeva and Lena Petrovska, both Sunday School Teachers in Macedonia, wanted to teach the children about the important people in the Bible, such as Abraham, Moses and David.  Then, most important of all, Jesus, in order to help the children understand the message of Salvation.   “After each lesson we wanted to hear from the children what they had learnt the night before. In one of those moments a child approached us and asked with excitement if we had a Bible for her so that she could learn the stories and get to know how to tell them to her friends”.

The teachers asked her to bring her parents and to get approval from them in order to receive a Bible.  She went away and after 20 minutes returned with her dad who joyfully approached and said not only that he agreed for his daughter to receive a Bible but that he would like one for himself as well!

Praise the Lord, with support from friends like you, Bible League International is planting Bibles in the homes of people like this father and daughter, bringing real joy and hope as they get to know their heavenly Father.

People all around the world are amazed at the wonderful things you do. You make all people, east and west, sing with joy.  Psalm 65:8 (ERV)

European Division Literacy Master Trainer Conference

A majority of European countries can boast an exceptionally high literacy rate, higher even than that enjoyed in the United States. All the same, Roger Massey, Bible League International’s European Division, organized a literacy ministry Master Trainer conference for its partners in Russia and other nations of the former Soviet Union, where a high educational level was a long-standing Communist ideal.

What makes the literacy ministry attractive in Europe and the regions of the former Soviet Union is that it offers training, through the Scriptures, in English, the official language of the European Union.

Future BLI Master Trainers from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Russia gathered in Moscow for an intensive course for training facilitators to use BLI’s English literacy materials.

One conference participant, Artur, Bible League Armenia’s representative at the seminar, already had plans in mind for his first steps upon returning to his mother land. I plan to have two kinds of groups,” he described in careful, flowing English. “One group will be formed of Christian and non-Christian youth and adults and a second group will be made up of devoted Christians already proficient in English whom I can train as teachers,” he explained. The ambitious volunteer wants to launch both levels at once. “I believe I can prepare a team so that the project has big results in Armenia,” he added. “We need a team of Christian teachers and trainers.”

Bible League International is committed to providing Bibles and Scripture resources to help people meet Jesus.

A Better Understanding of God’s Word

Visanthini, a 27 year old young woman from Jaffna, Sri Lanka, says that through learning Project Philip she was able to better understand the Bible. She also found it easier to teach others God’s Word through the Philip ministry booklets, and has decided to preach the Gospel and teach and disciple those who are lost.

In addition to her commitment to Jesus and the love she has for His work, she is also a new believer who is still in the process of growing in the Lord herself. Visanthini is committed to financially supporting the building of God’s Kingdom and is keen on spreading the Gospel among her family

and friends.

We thank and praise God for raising such determined people for His ministry.

Help people like Visanthini fulfil their calling of bringing the Gospel into their communities to help people meet Jesus, by donating on Bible League's website.

Bible League Literacy Program

The goal of Bible League International’s literacy program is to use Scripture and Scripture stories to lead people to Jesus while they gain language skills. There are various products used by Bible League in literacy outreach programs.

Literacy Outreach programs present the life-transforming Word of God to the poor and marginalized. We use Scripture to teach people to read, ensuring them a better life today and for eternity.
  • Bible Centric - unlocks the Bible and the first thing people read is the Bible from the Easy-to-Read Version.
  • Holistic Ministry - offers economic hope.  After clean water, literacy is the first and most important step out of poverty.
  • Self-worth is transformed - the blinders come off, the blind see which results in radical change.
  •  Community of new believers formed - Spontaneous church planting.
Because the programs are Bible-centred, many churches use them specifically as outreach tools. As
a result, new readers not only become a vital part of the community, they often become an active, vital part of the local church as well. Church Planters have used the programs in their efforts to establish new Bible-believing churches where there are none, inviting new readers to come together to read more in the Bible. As new readers begin to better understand God’s Word, they come to faith. These new believers then become the foundation of a new church, where they will continue to grow in faith.

Bible League International trains people who teach others to become literacy teachers!  We are not directly teaching people to read.  To start the program, Bible League International train master trainers who then train facilitators.  The facilitators then teach participants in ELM (English Language Ministry) or literacy.  ('Facilitator' is another word meaning a teacher in the program).  In addition, Bible League International provides materials and Scriptures for literacy programs.

"I appreciate the teaching so much because it brings multiplication to the Kingdom of God. Many people have suffered for the lack of knowledge and this is the only way they can find help." - facilitator, South Africa.

Pass It On Tour - YWAM

Bible League International Australia has partnered with YWAM (Youth with a Mission) Brisbane to provide Bibles for their Pass It On Tour, which has toured throughout South-East Queensland over the last 12 months.

Dave Neibling, Director, YWAM Brisbane wrote:
"The last week of May saw the YWAM team in Goondiwindi and also St. George. We had many wonderful conversations with young people and old alike in both towns and were able to present the Gospel message many times throughout the week in schools, public meetings, as well as through the many personal conversations our YWAM personnel had with local folk throughout the week."

"YWAM then went to Roma, 2-9th June. Our team of 50 young YWAMers literally swarmed all over town and were seen popping up everywhere.  We were even able to invite many local youth to the State of Origin game in our big marquee. There was a generous welcome from school principals and free access to share the Gospel in most schools which is a privilege we still enjoy and often take for granted in Australia. The YWAM members made many great connections and friendships and again many of those meaningful conversations about God have led to being able to give a New Testament to a new seeker and enthusiastic recipient."

"It's been a joy and tremendously satisfying for us to partner our YWAM swarming strategy with the Word of God in the form of Bible League International Bibles and to be able to place a New Testament into the context of meaningful relationships and so many serious discussions about Jesus and our heavenly Father. A joy and a privilege for us all."

"We thank the Bible League once again for making this happen and for your strategic role in this dynamic partnership and serious influence in these special rural communities."
