INDIA—Family finds redemption in Christ

Suhas’ life was chaotic. He worked as a driver, spending his day swerving in and out of traffic on India’s crowded and hectic roads. Back at home his wife was sick and constantly in and out of hospital. Suhas was also caught up in all kinds of bad habits that began to eat at him.

When Suhas first heard the Gospel through Bible League-trained Pastor Gireesh he couldn’t understand why God would have a plan for his life, let alone take interest in him. It was also the first time he has heard about the concept of sin.

“As my family was doing the [Project Philip Bible study] books, we came to know that we are sinners and we surely need redemption,” Suhas says. “That evening my pastor encouraged us to pray for forgiveness. Both I and my wife repented. God spoke to us through His Word and we accepted Jesus as our personal Saviour. Since that day we left idol worship.”

Suhas and his family then joined a Bible study group run by Pastor Gireesh. In this group, they were discipled and grew stronger in their faith. The family joined a church and they received a Bible. Soon God began to prepare Suhas for ministry.

“I had the privilege to attend the Project Philip ministry training program,” he says. “This training encouraged me and gave me a passion and zeal to share the Gospel with others. God [also] has set my wife free from all sickness.”

Suhas went on to share the Gospel in his village where there were no other Christians. He is seeing people come to know the Lord despite the opposition he faces from the community. “God is using us and I surrendered my life to serve Him full time,” Suhas says.

Please pray for Suhas, his family and the people they are leading to faith in Jesus Christ. Praise God for His redeeming work!

ARMENIA—God’s Word was a “personal message to me.”

In the article below, Leyli from Armenia shares her testimony of how she came to know Jesus Christ through reading God’s Word.

One day a man came knocking at my door and asked me if I was interested in knowing about God. Of course I was interested! Perhaps knowing about God would give me some of the answers to life. He told me he was a worker trained by Bible League International.

I felt good about accepting his invitation to attend Bible study meetings in the village. At first I considered the Bible message to be of a general nature. One time, as I was thinking about this, it came to me that in fact it is a personal message to me.

That truth came to me with force. I kept hearing the Bible teacher say when the truth is revealed by the Word of God, there should be a response: repent and believe in the Lord. This agitated me very much. The words of the Bible pounded me: “There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:22-23).

My pride was cracked open and I realised I was a sinner. In that moment I came to understand that the Holy Spirit had convicted me deeply of my sin.
It was God’s Word that had brought me into truth. It was God’s Word that gave to me the urge to repent and receive His forgiveness through placing my faith in His Son Jesus.

The words of the Bible say I will be “justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:24) I knew I had to act and repent that very day. Following the end of the Bible study the leader helped me to repent and receive the Lord Jesus into my life. The effect was immediate as my heart was filled with His love.

The words of the Bible—“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1)—became so true and real for me.
