Ponder Moment

Your words will be used to judge you. What you have said will show whether you are right or whether you are guilty. Matthew 12:37 (ERV)

Many people don’t recognise the power of words, not realising that it is by our words that our world is formed.  By them relationships are formed or lost; through them we get the job or we don’t; on them our reputation is either built or destroyed; in them people will either place their trust or not: everything we are today is a sum total of the words that we have spoken before.  This is what Jesus meant when he said that words show whether we are right or guilty – in fact, it is even through our words that we repent and are saved!
Here at Bible League, we understand the power of words and so are committed to planting the most powerful Word around the world in order that people may hear; and by hearing, they may believe in the only Word that can save them from whatever situation they find themselves in.

Be conscious of the words that you speak today, realising that through them you have the power to effective the lives around you.  Speak, and allow the light of Christ to shine through you.

Big Exo Day

On Saturday the 15th September, Parramatta Park was filled with 8000 young people celebrating the one day youth festival.  The day ended with an epic night concert which included great bands like Family Force 5 and Flame, all with the sole purpose of highlighting the fact that life with God is EXO (excellent).

Bible League International exists so that people around the world may experience this “excellent” life, which can only be discovered by giving them access to the most powerful Book in the world.  On the day, Bible League in partnership with Youth Alive, provided 1200 Bibles to be given to those who gave their lives to God on the night so that they might discover and live out the life that God planned for them.

Bible League representatives: Amanda, Sione & Tony were at the stand where they encouraged young people to Join the Revolution that Jesus began 2000 years ago by investing in a gift that has eternal value.  It was great seeing so many young people passionate about this Revolution and were excited to meet many like minded people – together with them, Bible League will continue to plant God’s Word to change the world

Partnering in Melbourne

In August, Tony McLennan, our CEO, was busy visiting churches in the Melbourne, Melton and Geelong area to help pastors and congregations gain a better idea of what Bible League is currently doing and how Bible League can partner with them to Plant God’s Word in order to change the World.

Tony McLennan
Brighton Church of Christ, a long standing supporter of Bible League, hosted Tony for the Sunday morning service. Pastor Danny Parsons, senior minister, spoke of Brighton Church of Christ’s commitment to reach their community for the Gospel. Tony shared on Matthew 4:19, “Come, follow Me, Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” After the service their was a very positive level of interest at the Bible League display stand with a number of people wanting to help promote Bibles for missions.

Tony’s visit also included visits to donors in the Melbourne area and he said: “It’s just amazing the generosity of God’s people. Every donor is a confirmation of God watching over His Word to perform it.”

A visit to Mount Evelyn Christian Reformed Church laid the foundation for future ministry sessions as also did meetings with Heathmont Presbyterian, Aberfeldie Baptist and Williamstown Community Church.

It was also heartening to meet with long term supporters of Bible League, Mt Evelyn Christian School and Glenroy Presbyterian Church and the Reformed Presbyterian Church in downtown Geelong.

Many new connections were made as Tony visited Rev Greg Allinson of St Mark’s Camberwell and Pastor Richard Doherty of Melton Assemblies of God.

Since that time offers to have Bible League speakers in the Melbourne area have been forthcoming and we are now planning a Business Breakfast in the area in November 12.

Indonesia: Time for a tune up

Ang runs an engine repair business on a small island just off the coast of Indonesia. Although not many people in this nation are Christian, most people on the island where Ang lives are nominal Christians. He was raised in a Christian home, yet never had an intimate experience with Jesus Christ. “My life was instead characterized by the works of the flesh, including dishonesty, irreverence, and self-indulgence,” Ang explains.

Still, Ang was open to Christianity, and when a friend invited him to an evangelical church service, he accepted. “I felt out of place and embarrassed," Ang says. "I could not keep up with the songs or relate to the worship, so I left before the service ended.”
Hunger for God.

But the experience stayed with him. He was moved by the way the people in the evangelical church prayed directly to Jesus, not through other people. “The smiles and joy that people wore and the intense way they worshipped touched off a spiritual fervor in me and a swelling hunger for God,” Ang says “The next Sunday, I went back to that church to worship and sing praises to the Lord”

After the service, Ang began going to a Bible study. "This is where my understanding and practical knowlege really took off," Ang smiles. "After a few months, I was leading Bible studies, and I became both a Sunday school teacher and youth leader at the church."

The pastor recognized his leadership gifts, and chose Ang to attend one of Bible League International’s church planter training classes. Church leaders are trained to establish new churches, many in areas with no previous evangelical presence. In Ang’s country, more than 80% of the population is Muslim, and less than 9% is Christian.

“With this training, I was able to establish a church on this island,” Ang rejoices. “My vision is to share the Good News with every person on this island and help new Christians grow in their faith.”
