Emil first heard about Jesus Christ from several Christians trained by Bible League who came to his village to share the Gospel. After they left, he kept thinking about what they had said.
“One day, when I was facing the biggest test in my life, I remembered the words of hope they had shared,” Emil said. “I began to pray. God heard me and helped me.”
When Kiril, a Bible League-trained Christian, returned to the village he invited Emil to join a Project Philip Bible study group. Not long after joining, Emil accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour and surrendered his life to Him.
“Before I became a Christian I lived in darkness and I didn’t know anything about the light,” Emil continues. “I didn’t know that I had a heavenly Father, who loves me and takes care of me.
“It never crossed my mind that someone else paid for my sins. This idea was too strange and unreal for me. But now I am filled with confidence and peace. My heart is rejoicing because I know that my heavenly Father will never leave me. Not only this, but my sins are forgiven. I have stopped lying and cheating. I try to do only good things. I am happy because I have changed.”
Emil received his very first Bible from Kiril when he finished the Bible study.
“It [the Bible] is my real treasure because I’m learning many things about my Lord Jesus Christ,” he said. “I need the Bible very much because it has life and that life is there for everyone who reads God’s Word.
“I am very thankful to Kiril and to Bible League for making it possible for him to help us study God’s Word.”
