Ponder Moment

How would you cope without a Bible?  God’s Word gives this instruction: Human, the Lord has told you what goodness is.  This is what he wants from you:  Be fair to other people.  Love kindness and loyalty, and humbly obey your God.  Micah 6:8 (ERV)  How would you fulfil this verse without a Bible?

In Western cultures, Bibles are prevalent in most homes, varying from 1-10 different versions.  But how many are actually read daily or even weekly?  When Christians don’t read the Bible, are they portraying a loving God to those around them?

Many believers in poor and disadvantaged nations long for a copy of the Bible to be able to reflect Micah 6:8, but how can they when they do not have a copy of the Bible.  Some communities only the pastor has a Bible and these leaders have very limited time to impart spiritual truths to their congregations.  Believers can travel many hours to hear God’s Word being spoken and taught, their hunger for the Bible’s truths yearn within them.

Bible League is committed to fulfilling the desires of seekers to be able to have their very own copy of the Bible, to learn its truths, to impart these to their families and friends and then communities.

Will you help us wipe out the Bible Famine that our world is currently facing?

Project Philip Changes Communities

Bible League International are blessed continually with testimonies that encourage us to continue the ministry of distributing Bibles and Scripture resources through local churches and partners to assist them in their ministries of helping people meet Jesus Christ.

Here is a snippet of some wonderful testimonies where lives and communities have been changed and God glorified through the Project Philip ministry:

Students Studying
Pastor Mahindra Das, a poor shoe repairman in the Hugli District of West Bengal, came to faith in Christ Jesus from a Hindu background. Trained as a Philip or Bible study leader, Bible League regularly provided him with Project Philip materials, New Testaments, and Bibles. Today, he leads a church and has eight assistant pastors, each of whom came to Christ through Project Philip. As a team, they have planted 9 new churches, led more than 850 people to faith in Lord Jesus Christ, and baptised 375 new believers.

Pastor Darío López (the National Bishop of the Iglesia de Dios del Perú [God´s Church of Perú]) decided that Project Philip for Children should not only be focused on children, but on their parents, as well. According to Pastor López, this decision has led to stronger families, greater unity, increased commitment to childcare, and the recognition of God’s grace in their lives.

The Faenera Church is a group of Christian brothers from different denominations who come to work at mine sites within the Cordillera
of northern Chile. They gather together with their bosses’ approval to conduct and celebrate Christian meetings on the work site. They also share the Word of God with co-workers, using Project Philip material to evangelize and disciple them.

Rev Shadrach Molosiwa, Bible League’s Southern Africa Regional Operations Director  recently shared  "We are looking at about a need of 60,000 Bibles to start with – and that is a drop in the ocean. We need to run the Project Philip project because the leaders and the people in the church have to go through the Bible study lessons to understand it to be engaged.  More Bibles could be used if they will come, but the minimum is copies 60,000 to start moving forward."

Project Philip is inspired by Acts 8:26-38 where Bibles and evangelical and discipling Bible study materials are provided by Bible League in many languages in a culturally appropriate formatScripture-focused Project Philip materials equip ordinary Christians to help others meet Jesus. Bible League International also provides churches with the Bibles they need in their church planting efforts to make sure the new churches they establish are firmly grounded in God’s Word.

God's Word Impacts Lives

As Bible League International is entering a new year it is good to reflect and be aware of our goal to end the Bible Famine.

Bible League receives many encouraging stories of lives changed and the impact that God's Word has upon lives:

“I was amazed when I first heard the Word of God,” says Wang, who received a Bible of his very own. “I began to read the Bible daily, and my life changed. God told me to feed thousands of people with the Word of God! Since then, there’s been no turning back. Only His Word can satisfy people’s spiritual hunger.”  Wang, Asia-Pacific

“I was immediately pleased and touched by how the people truly cared for me,” she says. “At the camp, I studied God’s Word and came to understand that Jesus loves me. I learned I can have a personal relationship with Him." Umut, Kyrgyzstan

"It (Bible) is a great tool for evangelism! It is very likely that Turkish Muslims will read the Easy-to-Read™ New Testament, because it offers a style they are familiar with for a Holy Book. The language is also very good for street evangelism and correspondence courses. The ultimate objective has to be to connect people to a church." Pastor, Turkey
